The Lotus was used by the Egyptians as a healing plant
& so perfectly represents the therapies I do which encompasses several types of massage treatments plus Reiki healing.
Current research is beginning to validate what most clients already know
about massage therapy: it can help ease or prevent many common ailments that are often treated with prescription drugs and/or
hospitalisation. Massage therapy is based on the ability of the body to naturally heal itself - though I would always
advocate seeking medical advice too as these therapies are also complimentary - and the therapies treat the source as well
as the symptoms.
Massage
has been shown to:
- decrease stress
- increase circulation
- release muscle tightness
- improve joint range of motion/flexibility
- release endorphins
- diminish
aches & pains
- reduce anxiety &
depression associated with anorexia/bulimia; post traumatic stress disorder; chronic fatigue syndrome.
I also do Seated Massage for Wheelchair Users.
The treatments can be done using essential oils and the treatments available are: back massage; reflexology;
indian head massage; hand/ arm massage; leg/foot massage and of course Reiki.
Therapy parties are good fun and great for a get-to-gether evening or afternoon.
Each person will in turn receive a mini-massage from a choice of indian head massage; reflexology; upper back & neck;
arms & hands; lower legs & feet or face massage. each mini-treatment will last about 10 - 15 mins and cost
each person £9. Taster sessions can also be arranged in the work-place.
I really enjoy the
treatments I do & love meeting new people. I especially enjoy those treatments which help alleviate specific health
problems such as back pain, & sciatica. The neuromuscular back massage is good for this.
Reiki is hands-on-healing, which works by accessing universal life-force healing energies. It is very calming &
clears & balances the chakras. It works very effectively with animals. Horses love it & most animals respond
very well. A few years ago I knew a Reiki Master who owned & treated a very large lizard every day! It would
come to her & get in her way until she had done the treatment! I treated a German Shepherd dog once a week.
He was generally nervous of visitors to his home, but he welcomed me once he knew what I was doing, & likesd
to lie at my feet for the treatment. I have used reiki on my own pets prior to visits to the vet
& found that it calmed them very well. Reiki can also be done as distance
healing just as effectively - I simply need a photograph of the person or animal to do it,
or if no photo, just a name & place name will do.
As an aromatherapist, I often use essential oils in my massage
treatments, & sometimes crystals , which add an extra healing energy to the treatment.
Most of the time my treatments are for specific problems,
such as lower back pain or sciatica, & I also treat disabled people to aid pain relief & ease postural problems.
Occassionally I will be asked for say, a back massage for a treat or relaxation, or a pre-holiday massage.
Crystal Wands are
wonderful to enhance a massage treatment as the healing energies of the crystals in the wand empower the massage.
Crystal Grids also
empower a treatment and are non-invasive, as the crystals are placed in a pattern below the treatment couch chair or wheelchair, from
where their energies radiate into the aura, creating a relaxing, balancing effect. Sometimes they can be used as a colour bath. In this case, six crystals, all of the same colour are placed
under the couch, radiating their colour energies into the aura whilst the treatment is taking place.
e.g. if a client is feeling low or unhappy that day, a colour bath
using pink or green crystals will irradiate their aura with pink or green energies & balance the heart chakra, lifting
their spirits & making them feel much happier. If their energy levels are very low, then red or orange crystals
can be used to energise, resonating with the base &/or sacral chakras.
The crystals energies help with physical healing as well as emotional,
and so are truly 'holistic'!
